Miniature Thangka, Burhany Zurag, 19th century
Burhany Zurags are small personalised portable version of Thangkas.Each Burhany Zurag is created for an individual and a depicts a deity invoked for specific purpose based on astrology.
Painted on cloth these are carried around by the individual in an encasement.
At 8 x 10cm this is larger than the normal Burhany Zurag Thangka.
One half of the artwork is worn out as can be seen from the photos.

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
