Of all the textiles that I have loved, this antique Qashqai dowry rug has been closest to me because of the SOUL or ATMA that the weaver has poured into her work of art.

For, it is only the giving of the SOUL abundantly and joyously, without restraint that can produce wealth – wealth that is eternal, wealth that has a permanent place in the universe.

The creator of the wealth, the artist-weaver is no more and this rug too will have a limited material life.

But her art, her soul and her love for her masterpiece,

can never be forgotten. It is immortal and will live on through photographs.
