Just when I’d thought I’d seen the complete range of the niche textile art from Swat Valley, along comes a piece that challenges that belief and nudges me out of my smug stupor.

In addition to well done Justai work, there is an additional element that awed me and everyone else that has seen it: The ‘self’ embroidery in the field … the thread used for the embroidered motifs is the same as that of the base cloth – hence the name.
