Raincoats of the Fortunate – Bhutan Textiles

August 21, 2018 1 min read

Destinies differ between individuals.

And between people groups.

In the plate of destiny granted to me, raincoats were made of plastic.

In the plate of the fortunate, raincoats were works of art – handwoven and rich with motifs!

These fortunate ones are the people of Bhutan who are more fortunate than most in most of the paramters that matter.

Some might say one must accept one’s lot with a smile and not covet another’s raincoat.

But the people who say this probably haven’t seen the magnificent raincloaks of Bhutan!

Here are the two beauties that have compelled me to think so many thoughts on the subject of raincoats!
