“Naa Maange Yeh Sona Chandi
Maange Darshan Devi Tere
Tere Dwar Khada Ek Jogi”
– Song from a 1954 Bollywood film Nagin
Am not pleading for Boons of Gold or of Silver
Am pleading only for a Glimpse of YOU”
Darshan Dwar Phulkari Baghs are textiles offered to gurudwaras or temples by the Sikh community upon the fulfillment of wishes or at important life events. Compared to the other Phulkari Baghs created as wedding textiles, the Darshan Dwar textiles are rarer in the world of textile collectibles.
Showcased below – in the order of Good to Great – are a few Darshan Dwar Phulkari Baghs created in the spirit of religious devotion and inspired by the Sikh Gurudwaras.
