The Rich Bow to the Poor – Images of Myanmar

March 20, 2015 1 min read

The rich bow to the poor as they donate money to the monks in Myanmar. There is no attitude of arrogance or of self-indulgent generosity. They rich bow to the poor in humility.

But is it really so?

Not really.

For in that paradigm, the rich are the ones who have earned merit and karma with their good deeds. The monks even though they own nothing, are the ones that are rich. The people living lives of householders are not the rich ones, even if they have large bank balances.

And so that statement is false.

It is not the rich bowing to the poor. It is as always, the poor bow to the rich. The visual is misleading.
