Antique Sindh Abochani Phulkari Shawl.
Glossy silk embroidery on a fine silk base.
Usually such pieces are on cotton. Silk is not a common material making this an unusual piece.
Densely embroidered field.
As the silk is very fine, there are minor spots of distress most likely caused by a human tug that put pressure at the stitch. Easily repairable. There are also some stains.
The back has the markings on the textile that are used as guides to lay the embroidery stitches.
A fine piece overall.
Minor holes / repairs / stains / tears in a few places
Estimated to be pre-1900
