Large Silver hand crafted Ghau box from Tibet or Ladakh
Meant to be worn on the waist belt as a spiritual ornament
Inlaid with superbly carved Buddha made from off-white organic material
Has a copper back.
Contains a few grains of dried leaves (possibly juniper) considered to be auspicious
While silver ghaus are not too uncommon, ones with such organic inlay work are rare.
Estimated to be from the early 1900s13 X 14 X 4cm
