Am back from an extremely gratifying
lecture tour on the amazing cruise-ship Silver Whisper
The seven lectures on art & culture of Asia led to conversations that were deep and engaged and the fact that
the subject excited members of the audience was the greatest reward.
*
Ever since I became aware of the traditional arts of Asia,
I have been lamenting that this is a neglected area of the art world.
And I'd  started the blog wovensouls.org in 2011 very diffidently
with the intent of doing my little bit to showcase that world of ethnic arts on the internet.
Today, 1200 blog notes, about 2 dozen talks and 3 textile art preservation w-i-p projects later I am not so diffident.
"What can I alone do - I don't matter" is partly true
But that should not prevent one from doing whatever is possible.
*
I was told this by one of my mentors who passed away yesterday
Mr. Manohar Parrikar.
He embodied the phrase "The Power of One".
His own life will continue to offer an example to me & many others.

And so I continue to move forward in the world of the past, one small step at a time,  seeking beauty & sharing it.
