These images of the mother-goddess were originally used by the Vaghri community of Gujarat for worship. 

The cloth would be hung up on a wall, men and women would sit before the hanging and sing hymns. 

The families that created pachedi artworks have, in the past two decades or so moved on beyond devotional art to make art for decorative purposes. 

This step has resulted in the production of some superlative works that are finer, denser, more precise and more appealing aesthetically.
