1407 Old Figurative Weft Ikat - Narrative Indonesian Textile

 The long textiles - around 5 m or 15 feet - has motifs of men, animals, boats and unidentified creatures.

Beautiful blues, browns and rust hues present. In addition select sections have been highlighted using yellow - an unusual color.

The presence of a canopy or umbrella over the man on the white animal suggests royalty or nobility.

This textile is being studied for more information on its narrative usage.

 

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections. Therefore the condition must be assumed to be “not” perfect. More photos of such imperfections will be provided on request.
